Poor and elderly friends
Gio had some poor friends who lived on the streets of New York;
every day he stopped to greet a man who was living outdoor lying
next to a supermarket on the way to the hospital.
"We have to build a house for the poor," he said to his mother one day.
He had a special friendship with the contemplative Dominican Sisters
of the Bronx and on several occasions brought them offerings for the poor
who were living in their neighborhood.

Gio noticed frail elderly people and often pointed them to mum,
and the elderly always recognized him.
Between them were often exchanges of tenderness.
At the Christmas concert on December 16, 2012 for the residents of the Amsterdam Nursing Home, he accompanied his sister who played the piano;
with the school he visited the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home and back home he spoke at length about the old beautiful lady of ninety years.
